APPROVED: Carbon Reductions for New Construction

UPDATE: This legislation was approved on 8-24-22 and was sent to the Governor for signature on 8-31-22.

AB 2446 was introduced on 2-17-22 by Assembly Member Holden.

This bill would require the State Energy Commission to develop a framework for measuring and reducing carbon intensity in construction of new buildings, including residential uses. Would require an 40% net reduction in carbon intensity of construction by December 31, 2035 with a target net reduction of 20% by December 31, 2030.
