HOT: Housing in Office/Retail Zones

UPDATE: This legislation is under review. It was approved by the Senate on May 24th, 2021. The House Committee on Housing and Community Development approved on 6-9-22 and it has been routed to the Committee of Appropriations. Approval is expected shortly.

SB 6 was introduced on 12-7-20 by Senators Caballero, Eggman, and Rubio.

This bill would create the Neighborhood Homes Act, which establishes housing as an allowable use on any parcel zoned for office, retail , or parking uses as long as the sites are not adjacent to industrial or agricultural use. 15% of the units must be affordable. Developers must pay prevailing wages to all construction workers.
