INACTIVE: Substandard Housing: Cooling Required

Updated: Sep 19, 2022

UPDATE: This legislation is inactive. It was approved in the House, but the first committee hearing in the Senate was cancelled at the request of the author on 6-21-22. No action has been taken since that date.

AB 2597 was introduced on 2-18-22 by Assembly Member Bloom.

This bill would require buildings with a dwelling unit maintain adequate cooling. Sets a maximum indoor air temperature in newly constructed dwelling units (likely to provide cooling). It also requires the Department of Housing and Community Development to propose safe maximum indoor air temperatures in existing dwelling units.
