SRO protections: Cleaning

UPDATE: This legislation was introduced on 3-22-22 and was approved on 5-13-22.

Ordinance 220284 was introduced on 3-22-22 by Supervisors Peskin and Chan.

This Ordinance creates new cleaning standards for high-touch surfaces in common areas of SRO hotels. It would require owners to clean and disinfect surfaces at least once a day, provide soap and hand sanitizer in common areas, and maintain a log for inspection by DPH. Violations would result in a public nuisance. Owners would also need to provide DPH with a list of all people who lived or worked at the SRO during the previous two-week period.
